Dec 17, 2008 - SGC hosts minisymposia on "Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery" and "Structural Biology and Cancer" in March 2009

Oct 2008 - SH2 domain pilot project recognized in this Nature Methods editorial

Aug 2008 - Use of SGC reagents: SH2 domain pilot project to generate affinity reagents

On March 15 2008 the SGC hosted a workshop discussing the potential of launching a project generating affinity reagents to all human proteins. As a consequence of the meeting a pilot project was launched to compare different antigen and binder technologies. The project focuses on proteins containing SH2 domains. Read more.

Sept 2006 - Invitation to guest students/postdocs for rotations at SGC Stockholm

Academic postdocs or senior PhD students are invited for short term (3-6 months) visits to SGC Stockholm.

Guests would participate in the research of one of three Biology teams (for Biology areas see the Research tab) and would have the opportunity to learn skills concerning e.g. high throughput methodologies. A long term goal of such a visit would also be to transfer a project (post 3D structure) to a collaborating laboratory.

A background in structural biology is desirable but not necessary. Biochemists/cell biologists with experience from our target areas are also welcome to apply.

Please contact Johan Weigelt for more information.

Press release

Karolinska Institutet issued a press release celebrating the first year of operation for SGC Stockholm, August 15 2006.

The SGC mentioned in Nature

The Nature News feature "Science on the Solstice" on

SGC Research Day 2006

On Wednesday March 8 SGC hosted its first Research Day to present SGC related research.

Protein production workshop

SGC will organise a protein production workshop on Thursday February 9 with practical sessions in the following weeks.

SGC Stockholm officially inaugurated

A Mini-Symposium was held on Wednesday Sep 21 to inaugurate the SGC Stockholm laboratories.

Karolinska Institutet also issued a press release announcing the opening of SGC Stockholm.

Article in Ny Teknik

An article describing SGC Stockholm was published in the Swedish weekly engineering newspaper Ny Teknik on September 14.

Protein structures hint at the shape of things to come

Alison Abbott writes for Nature about SGC's achievements on the occasion of its First Anniversary.

"In less than a year, an Anglo-Canadian group has worked out the structures of 50 complex proteins that are relevant to human disease."

The full article was published by the Nature in June 2nd 2005 (Vol 435, pp.547).
