The Protein Science Facility was established to provide academic users with protein production services and access to the state-of-the-art infrastructure for protein crystallography and biophysical protein characterization available at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics (MBB).

The facility is based on the platforms and methodologies established by the Structural Genomics Consortium project hosted by MBB 2005-2011, and offers subsidized services to its users. The team of staff has extended experience both from SGC and previous academic research.

The facility is affiliated with the Science for Life Laboratory and is funded by Karolinska Institutet, Science for Life Laboratory Stockholm, MBB, and SWEDSTRUCT.

The academic user fee is comprised of consumables, instrument cost, and university OH. Staff and rent is covered by Karolinska Institutet, MBB, and Science for Life Laboratory Stockholm.

General information on user access and operating guidelines can be found here.
